Crispy Prawn Fritters


Prawn Fritters that takes no time to cook at home.



Prawn Fritters are notoriously expensive at seafood restaurants and they easily cost about $20 for a small servings. Imagine with that money,  one can cook 3-4 batches at home.

Cooking Prawn Fritters should not take you much time and all you need is a batter recipe and prawns.Apart from the cheaper cost of cooking this at home, you can also choose to use healthier and cleaner cooking oil to deep fry it.

This recipe is derived from an online source which i slighted tweeted from.The use of rice flour will add extra crispness to the crust.Baking powder makes the crust puffy and light.

Recipe ( Prep 5 mins, Cooking time 5 mins)
( Serves 3-4 )

Ingredients:

  • 16 medium prawns(de-shelled and leave the tails intact)


Batter:

  • 113g plain flour
  • 6 tbsp rice flour
  • 2 tsp baking powder
  • 2 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • Dash of white pepper
  • 180ml water


Seasonings:

  • Salt & pepper



Steps:

1)In a bowl, season prawns with a pinch of salt and  dash of pepper.Set aside.

2)Combine the ingredients for the batter in a bowl.The consistency of the batter should be thick and smooth.

3)Heat oil in deep pot.Insert a chopstick into the oil to test the oil temperature.Oil is ready once bubbling is seen when chopstick is dipped into hot oil.

4)One at a time, dip prawns into the batter and then into hot oil.

5)Deep fry until brown and crispy.Serve immediately or keep warm in oven to retain crispiness.
